Securing B.PRO’s core business: Industrial division ENOXX to be wound down

After unsuccessful divestment efforts, around 180 jobs will be lost in the ENOXX division over the course of 2027

Oberderdingen – The B.PRO Group, part of the BLANC & FISCHER Group, is focusing on transforming its strategic core business in food logistics and will wind down its industrial division ENOXX over the course of 2027. After pursuing several approaches over the past few years, the Group most recently tried to identify potential acquirers for the division, which has been operating at a loss for years. Until the division’s closure in 2027, employment for approximately 180 employees will gradually come to an end.

In addition to its core business in food logistics for commercial kitchen operators, B.PRO has produced stainless steel parts for industrial customers under the ENOXX brand to utilize spare capacity. This division has not been profitable for some time. In particular, business with the automotive industry presents major challenges for a mid-sized company. In addition, the risk of breakdowns and associated liability claims is constantly growing due to the age of the machinery. However, renewing the machinery would require investments in the double-digit million range, which cannot be refinanced from ENOXX’s or B.PRO’s ongoing operations.

Search for a sustainable solution

“Over the last few years, we have pursued multiple approaches. These include transferring B.PRO into a standalone, powerful unit, engaging in manufacturing business with small-batch production, and contract assembly for the kitchen appliance industry. Last year, additional scenarios were reviewed with an open outcome, and most recently, intensive efforts were made to identify potential acquirers in order to preserve jobs. Despite our willingness to make far-reaching concessions, these efforts were unsuccessful,” says Frank Gfrörer, CEO of the BLANC & FISCHER Group, which includes B.PRO.

Gfrörer continues: “Even though we have clearly addressed the problems in the ENOXX division in the past, we are aware that today’s news will naturally raise concerns among our employees about their personal future. We have already contacted employee representatives and IG Metall trade union to ensure that the workforce reduction is handled in the most socially responsible manner possible. In the second quarter, we will have a clear view of the timing and scale of employment reductions based on the production planning of customer projects.”

Transformation of B.PRO’s core business

During the upcoming transformation phase, the strategically important core business in catering will be sustainably geared toward productivity, financial stability and emerging market opportunities, despite the current weak market demand. In particular, the automation of food logistics offers significant potential that must be leveraged in the coming years, building on our established product expertise and market reputation.

B.PRO currently employs around 500 people, including 180 staff at ENOXX in Oberderdingen, where the company manufactures and sells stainless steel products such as door handles, radiator grilles, urea mixing boxes, and cooktop frames.
