
B.PRO Benelux BV: close to customers in three languages
B.PRO has its own sites in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. At B.PRO Benelux BV in Diest, Belgium, a small, highly experienced team ensures that customers and business partners receive reliable support – from the initial quotation right through to punctual delivery. We spoke to branch manager Stephan Van Lishout about the work on site, special features of the market and the future.
Mr Van Lishout, what does the work of B.PRO Benelux look like?
We are a small but very versatile and powerful organisation with four employees: two in the office, one in the field and myself as Managing Director. In practice, I am heavily involved in operations, essentially as a sales manager. We visit customers, prepare quotations, advise on suitable solutions and support our dealers with implementing their projects. At the same time, we take care of all service issues, spare parts and warranties.
The special thing is: We can act very autonomously. This gives us the opportunity to react quickly and coordinate solutions directly.
Which market do you mainly serve?
Our focus is on care catering – i.e. in nursing homes and clinics – and school catering. Particularly high requirements for hygiene, workmanship and durability apply in these areas. This is where we excel as a reliable partner with extensive experience and high quality standards.
The Benelux market is highly competitive. How do you manage to assert yourselves?
Through factors such as product quality, reliable delivery dates and our comprehensive services. Price comparisons are part of our daily business, but we know that: If you only argue on the basis of price, you will quickly lose. Our approach is to offer customers real added value.
This begins with support for retailers and planning offices: We assist them with tenders, prepare documents, calculate attractive project conditions and ensure smooth implementation, from the first quotation right through to successful project completion.
Just as important is fast and reliable support if service is required. Our business partners know that they can rely on us – and that makes the difference amongst all the competition.
So delivery times and logistics are an important factor?
Without a doubt. We often deliver directly to the end customer, also via individual shipments. Our packaging, for example for serving trolleys, is designed to minimise the risk of transport damage. We also coordinate delivery dates precisely so as not to disrupt operations on site. Our customers really appreciate this.
What are the special features of working with customers in the Benelux countries?
Language plays a key role. In Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, customers expect to be served in their native language – be it Dutch, French or German. This is a matter of course for us. Our team speaks all three languages, often in combination. This not only facilitates communication, but also creates a basis of trust through which long-term partnerships can develop.
How do you use digital tools in sales?
Our web shop is an important component. Retailers can configure products there, access prices and delivery dates in real time and order directly. We provide our partners with intensive training so that they can make optimum use of the system. In the long term, we would like to utilise the web shop even more as a sales tool, for example with targeted promotions that make purchasing easier and create incentives.
You have been with B.PRO Benelux since 2004. What still inspires you about your work after all these years?
For me, it's like in sport: I like to win. It is a pleasure to convince customers of our solutions and to celebrate successes together with the team. It doesn't matter whether it's a large project or a small order.
Every year we set new goals, and every year we face the challenge of achieving them. When we succeed, it's always a special moment. This mix of personal interaction, exciting projects and the desire to do my best keeps the job exciting for me.
And how do you see the future?
Automation in the portioning kitchen is a topic with great potential for us. We are already seeing significant interest from the operators, so I am convinced: The sector will develop into a major growth area, and I sincerely hope that we can play a prominent role in this with B.PRO Benelux.
