Catering equipment on tour

Ultimate safety: the professional transport cases ensure all-round protection for equipment during transport.

Transporting equipment is commonplace in the catering industry. Whether in a container, by truck, rail or sea, transport damage is often unavoidable. In the worst-case scenario, equipment arrives at its destination in an unusable condition, leaving no choice but to engage in a time-consuming, costly search for an alternative.

Markus Brieskorn

Markus Brieskorn is all too familiar with these logistical challenges – as Head of Live and Digital Communications, he is also in charge of the B.PRO GmbH trade fair appearances. He is responsible for ensuring that catering exhibits such as B.PRO COOK cooking stations, B.PROTHERM food transport containers or elements from the BASIC LINE food serving system travel safely and in perfect condition all over the world – from retailer events in Berlin through roadshows in the Middle East, all the way to trade fairs in Singapore and back again.

We met with Markus Brieskorn to chat about his experiences and why professional transport cases are an ideal solution.

Mr Brieskorn, the catering products you take all over the world are quite a size and weight. How do you transport these B.PRO exhibition units?

Markus Brieskorn: In former times, our exhibition units were placed on pallets without outer packaging and sent on their travels. Often, however, the units did not emerge unscathed, and frequently returned with heavy damage, which was obviously extremely exasperating.

In order to avoid such damage and ensure safe and convenient transport for the exhibition equipment, we have been using sturdy transport cases for some time now. They are very similar to the flight cases used in the music and events industry.

So the transport cases offer optimal protection?

Markus Brieskorn: Yes, definitely. The compact cases offer our equipment optimal protection and safety during transport. Indeed, their introduction has reduced transport damage to a minimum.

However, the cases not only provide protection from damage, but also shield the contents from prying eyes. Since it is not apparent what is inside the box from the outside, they can even help to prevent theft.

The cases are quite large. How are they transported? How easy is it to move the boxes?

Markus Brieskorn: The cases not only provide maximum safety for our equipment during transport, but also ultimate convenience. Fitted with castors, they are easy to move,

And coordinated sizes also mean they are stackable and thus save valuable space during transport. The boxes are exceptionally sturdy and strong, but have a low tare weight and are therefore easy to move. They not only protect kitchen equipment from damage, but also from dust and other types of dirt.

How are the contents fixed in place?

Markus Brieskorn: Bespoke cushioning ensures everything has its own place, meaning that nothing can slide around inside. The large metal fittings not only create a sophisticated look, but also guarantee maximum stability. There are now even cases we can use to send entire mobile kitchen stations – they are almost permanently integrated into the cases and are therefore ideal for simple and flexible use all over the world.

Are the cases also favourable in terms of sustainability?

Markus Brieskorn: Without a doubt. On the one hand, the transport itself becomes more sustainable because the cases are stackable and therefore enable more to be transported on one loading area. On the other hand, the manufacturer also pays close attention to optimal sustainability in the case materials and production.

The cases are the ideal solution and highly recommendable for all event caterers or companies that need to transport kitchen equipment more frequently.

Many thanks for the insightful interview, Mr Brieskorn.
